Job Description

Registered Veterinary Nurse-Wheelhouse Veterinary Centre, Chalfont St Giles Posted on 24/01/2023

All the relevant skills, qualifications and experience that a successful applicant will need are listed in the following description.
The Wheelhouse Vets are looking to grow our team and would like Registered Veterinary Nurses to join on a full-time & part time basis. Each morning the clinical team attends ward round that last approximately 15 minutes. The theatre nurse for the shift often leads the meeting by introducing each patient and procedure and then discussing who will be performing the procedure, who will be assisting them, when this procedure will likely take place and what medications/ pre-meds will be required. This forms the plan of the day for the team. We also present the teams for the day- who we have, what times they are working and in which department. We discuss any inpatients we may have and who will be looking after them. The inpatients are discussed in more depth between the case vet and the wards nurse after rounds.
We offer a good all-around experience for our Nurses so everyone gets the chance to work in the different areas such as theatre, wards, and nurse clinics. Our Nurses are extremely valuable to us and we encourage them to use all of their knowledge and skills to the best of their abilities so we give them areas of responsibility in their chosen area of interest. These roles may include the exciting opportunity for some sole charge responsibilities at our Beaconsfield branch. These include taking charge of stock levels, daily running and promoting growth of the branch.
Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours truly tips the scale on your work life balance. We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it easier for you to strike the right balance. Whether you are looking to fix or flex your work patterns, we can find the right solution for you
The rota is over 15 weeks with 2 full weekends (Saturday 8am – 6pm, Sunday 9am – 5pm) and 1 half weekend (Saturday 8am – 4pm). When you work a full weekend, you get the following Friday off in lieu and if you work a half weekend you get a half-day on the following Friday.
Our out of hours care is provided by Vets Now.
The salary is up to £30,000 pro rata depending on experience with a welcome bonus of £1000 and a relocation allowance of £2,000 also available.
